Trevor Gallant (born January 10, 1975 in London , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . In Europe he worked for the EC Bad Nauheim , the Straubing Tigers , the Vienna Capitals and, most recently, the HC Innsbruck .
Career
Gallant first played for the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League at the age of 16 . There he played for four years, during the 1994/95 season he moved to the North Bay Centennials , who also played in the OHL. The striker was on the ice for two seasons for the Centennials, and in the 1996/97 season he also played five games for the South Carolina Stingrays in the East Coast Hockey League .
In 1996 Gallant came to Europe, after a brief stint with Hermes Kokkola in the Finnish I divisioona he played in the 1996/97 season with Tappara Tampere in the top Finnish league SM-liiga . In 1998 the left shooter went to Italy and was on the ice for HC Asiago in Serie A and in the Alpine League . The striker returned to North America in 1999 and played for the Arkansas RiverBlades in the ECHL. After a season he moved back to Europe and stormed in the British Ice Hockey Superleague for Manchester Storm . There he was very successful and was voted Player of the Year in the 2000/01 season, both by the fans and by his colleagues ( “Players' player of the year” ). After a second season in Manchester, the Canadian went to Germany and signed with EC Bad Nauheim . He played in Bad Nauheim for two years before moving to the Straubing Tigers in 2004 , which also played in the second Bundesliga . With the Tigers, he won the championship and promotion to the DEL in 2006 . In January 2008 Gallant left Straubing and signed with the Austrian first division club Vienna Capitals , with whom he moved into the play-off semi-finals twice in a row. After the 2008/09 season, the Canadian left Vienna and joined the High1 team, which plays ice hockey in the Asia League . After a year in South Korea, he returned to Austria and joined HC Innsbruck . The striker played there for a season before retiring from his career.
After his active career, he founded an ice hockey school and also works as a scout in the OHL .
International
1997 Trevor Gallant was nominated for the first time for Team Canada . He completed a total of 63 games for the Canadian national team in 1997/98 and scored 48 points scorer, in the 1998/99 season he wore the jersey of his home country two more times.
