Trevor Johnson (born January 25, 1982 in Trail , British Columbia ) is a former Italian - Canadian ice hockey player .
Career
The Canadian- born defender began his career with the Kootenay Ice in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League . In the years up to 2006 he went on the ice for seven other teams, including the American Hockey League and ECHL . For the 2006/07 season Johnson moved to Europe in the first Italian Serie A . Here he played for SV Ritten-Renon and HC Asiago . Before the 2009/10 season , the defender received a contract with the Kassel Huskies from the German Ice Hockey League . After the contract termination in the German Ice Hockey League , he moved back to the Italian league for HC Bozen in December 2009 . In July 2010 he moved to HC Valpellice , whose team he has been captain on the ice since 2011. In 2013 and 2016 he won the Coppa Italia with his club . In 2013 and 2014 he was the top scorer among the Serie A defenders . In 2012, 2014 and 2015 he was the best goal setter among the Serie A defenders. In February 2016, he left Valpellice and played the season at HC Pustertal to the end. He then joined the Manchester Storm from the British Elite Ice Hockey League . The defender finally ended his active career after the 2016/17 season.
International
For Italy , Johnson took part in the World Championships in the top division in 2010 , 2012 and 2014 as well as in Division I in 2009 , 2011 and 2013 , in which he and his team rose to the top division as group winners. At the 2009 World Cup, Johnson was named the best defender, achieved the best plus / minus balance of the tournament and, together with his compatriot Roland Ramoser, was also the top scorer. The native Canadian also played for Italy in the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010 and in Sochi in 2014 .
