The Trotuș in Romania |
The Trotuș [ ˈtrotuʃ ] ( Hungarian Tatros ) is a right tributary of the Sereth in eastern Transylvania in Romania .
River course
In the Munții Ciucului Mountains - a mountain range of the Eastern Carpathians - the Trotuș rises in the east of the Harghita district , northeast of the city of Miercurea Ciuc (Szeklerburg) near the village of Făgețel .
In the north of the Ciucului Mountains , the Trotuș flows in a northerly direction, after which it separates the Ciucului and Tarcăului mountain ranges , in the historical region of Moldova ( Moldova in Romanian ), in a southeastern direction near the municipality of Ghimeș-Făget in the Bacău district . It flows through the cities of Comăneşti , Oneşti and south of Adjud in the district of Vrancea it flows into the Sereth.
The Drum național 12A national road also runs through the Trotuș Valley . At Onești, the Trotuș is dammed with the 6.90 m high Priza Trotuș dam and is mainly used for the industrial water supply for Borzești .
