The Lagermax warehouse and freight forwarding AG is the parent company of an international group , whose operating activities cover next to the home market Austria mainly on the Central, Southern and Eastern Europe. The company's headquarters are in the city of Salzburg . Lagermax is the leading company in the federal state of Salzburg in the fields of forwarding , car transport, parcel service, express services and logistics .
history
The company was founded by several Salzburg businessmen in 1920 as a warehouse and trucking company in the then independent municipality of Maxglan . The decisive factor for the location was the construction of the Stiegl brewery's towing railway branching off from the main railway line in Lehen , which provided a connection to the railway network of the city of Salzburg for the new operation. The name "Lagermax" initially only served as a telegram address and is derived from the original company name and the name of the community. The warehouse was officially opened on April 26, 1922 by Governor Franz Rehrl and was designated as the largest company of its kind in the State of Salzburg.
In 1985 Lagermax Lagerhaus und Speditions AG was founded, the parent company and headquarters of the group of companies.
Corporate structure
Today the group is a stock corporation and has subsidiaries in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Germany, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Turkey. The company currently employs around 3,700 people across Europe. The turnover of the entire Lagermax group in the 2019 financial year was around 565 million euros. In Austria, Lagermax has branches in Vienna , Kalsdorf near Graz , Straßwalchen , Munderfing , Obertrum am See , St. Veit an der Glan , Linz , Radstadt , Sachsenburg , Premstätten , Villach and Fürnitz .
In Austria, Lagermax Group also includes Lagermax Autotransport in Straßwalchen, Alltime Express Distribution (AED) network as express service, DPD Austria , Conzept Container Modulbau and FRIKUS Transportlogistik in Premstätten in Styria.
Lagermax has been a partner of the AUSTRIAN LOGISTICS umbrella brand since 2018.
In 2020 Lagermax is celebrating its 100th company anniversary under the motto "100 YEARS FROM NOW".
Company headquarters and logistics terminal Salzburg-Maxglan
The company's headquarters are still in the Maxglan district of Salzburg , between Siezenheimerstraße and Glanhofen . Around 350 people are employed at the headquarters.
1997–99 a new logistics terminal was built. The company was convinced by the Salzburg design advisory board to create an architecturally representative building and gave the order to the young Styrian-Aachen team kadawittfeldarchitektur (Klaus Kada, Gerhard Wittfeld). The building ensemble was created in three U-shaped wings. The flat transshipment hall can be optimally docked thanks to a curve. The high-bay warehouse and hazardous goods storage (1,500 pallet spaces) are a voluminous structure, the storefront of the warehouse on Siezenheimerstraße is a translucent, dark glass front that is hidden in reflections during the day and shimmers matt at night, and the ADR security area in concrete. In between there is a small wing with inner courtyard-like break zones on the upper floor giving structure to office buildings. The builders praised the much improved operating procedures to their surprise.
Lagermax car transport
The head office of Lagermax Autotransport is located in Straßwalchen . On a storage area of 1,900,000 m² (1.9 km²) - the group has an annual turnover of around 920,000 new vehicles at this location. In the field of car transport, Lagermax, with its locations in Straßwalchen and Vienna, is the market leader in Austria.
