The Tunis Governorate ( Arabic ولاية تونس, DMG wilāyat Tūnis ) is one of the 24 governorates in Tunisia .
It is located in the north of the country, has an area of 346 km² and 1,002,900 inhabitants. The capital is the Tunis of the same name , also the capital of Tunisia.
