history

The "Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayii Anonim Ortaklığı A.Ş." (TUSAŞ) was founded on the basis of the Turkish trade and foreign investment law by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology on May 15, 1984 with the aim of reducing the dependency in matters To minimize aircraft. The first order was the fleet of the new F-16 aircraft for the Turkish Air Force . They had to carry out the system integration for the aircraft and test flights. In 1984 the two American companies Lockheed Martin and General Electric acquired 43% and 8% respectively in TUSAŞ. Lockheed Martin has founded the subsidiary Lockheed Martin of Turkey in Turkey. After that, the Turkish government, which was still 50% involved, lost its influence. It was soon noticed that the government of Turkey and the two US companies often have disagreements. As a result, the TUSAŞ only had the contract between 1984 and 2005 to produce the majority of the fuselage of the F-16 .

In 2005 Turkish companies and private individuals bought the shares of American companies. A month later the company was restructured and realigned. The owners agreed that the armaments company should again be subordinated to the current Ministry of Industry and Technology. The company should also become a state-owned company.

In 2016 the company was realigned again. From now on, TUSAŞ will pursue the following goals:

  • Manufacture all aircraft that Turkey needs itself (ensure independence from abroad)
  • The development and construction of a complete (combat) aircraft (acquisition of know-how, especially for engines )
  • In addition, to promote the sale of its own aircraft and to increase the share of the world market to 5%

The company meets European, American and global quality standards in the preparation of its goods and services, including: NATO AQAP -110, ISO 9001 : 2000, AS EN 9100 and AECMA-EASE.
