Tynia Gaither (born March 16, 1993 in Freeport ) is a Bahamian sprinter .

Athletic career

Kelly-Ann Baptiste gained her first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2010 in George Town , where she won the silver medal in the U20 age group in the 200-meter run in 23.83 s, as well as with the Bahamian 4-time 100 meter relay in 45.59 s. In addition, she finished sixth over 100 meters in 11.86 s. Then she reached the semi-finals at the Junior World Championships in Moncton over 200 meters, in which she was eliminated with 24.48 s. Even with the relay, she could not qualify for the final in 45.45 s. In addition, she took part in the first ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where she won the silver medal in 23.68 s and won the mixed sprint relay (1000 meters). At the CARIFTA Games 2011 in Montego Bay , she competed in the 100-meter run , where she finished fifth in 11.72 seconds.

In 2016, she took part in the 60-meter run at the World Indoor Championships in Portland , but was eliminated there with 7.41 s in the first round. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she retired over 100 meters with 11.56 s in the first round and reached the semi-finals over 200 meters , in which she was eliminated with 23.45 s. The IAAF World Relays in 2017 in the Bahamas they came with the 4-by-100-meter relay in 44.01 s to sixth place and at the World Championships in London she won the 200 meters with 23.07 s in the finals the eighth place and could not finish her race in the lead with the relay. The following year she finished sixth over 200 meters at the NACAC Championships in Toronto in 23.41 s. In 2019 she took part in the Pan American Games in Lima for the first time , where she won the bronze medal in 22.76 seconds behind the Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Vitória Cristina Rosa from Brazil. With the season she could not finish her run in the finals again. At the World Championships in Doha , she reached the semi-finals over 100 meters , in which she was eliminated with 11.20 s, while over 200 meters with 22.90 s in the final, she again came eighth.

In 2016 and 2017 Gaither was Bahamian champion in the 100-meter run and in 2016 and 2018 over 200 meters.
