Alt-Tempelhof underground station

The Alt-Tempelhof is a station of the subway line 6 in Berlin district Tempelhof the district Tempelhof-Schoneberg. The BVG runs the station under the internal abbreviation At ; the train station is 498 meters from the Tempelhof S-Bahn and U-Bahn station and 591 meters from Kaiserin-Augusta-Straße underground station .

The Alt-Tempelhof underground station, opened on February 28, 1966, belongs to the section of today's U6 line between the Tempelhof station and Alt-Mariendorf ; four more went into operation alongside this station. Like almost all train stations of that time, the architect Bruno Grimmek also adopted the design. Like many Grimmek stations at that time, the station is very sober and inconspicuous. It has a 110-meter-long and seven-meter-wide platform and a flat ceiling, with white wooden panels hanging over the tracks. The rear walls of the platform are covered with green ceramic tiles, the row of supports supporting the station is also in white.

At the end of 2018, the station, along with twelve other stations, was placed under a preservation order as a witness to the West Berlin subway construction in the 1960s and 1970s .

The train station is still not barrier-free , only escalators and stone stairs allow access to the train station. Since the closest Tempelhof train station, which was made barrier-free in 1993, is only a few hundred meters away, the equipment of the Alt-Tempelhof train station with lifts was postponed until 2016. The barrier-free expansion should be completed by the end of 2020.
