The underground station Krumme Lanke is a terminus of the Berlin underground line U3 . It lies parallel between Argentinische Allee and Rauweilersteig in the Berlin district of Zehlendorf in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district . Its name in the BVG station directory is K , the distance to the neighboring station Onkel Toms Hütte is 1069 meters.

The underground station was originally supposed to be called Alsenstraße , but was then named after the Krumme Lanke lake, one kilometer away . It was put into operation on December 22, 1929 as part of what was then Line A and formed the end point of the extension line from Thielplatz .

Structure and location

As a cutting station, it is 3.6 meters below street level, although not in the tunnel. This difference in height has been accessible with an elevator since 1989 . The central platform between tracks 1 and 2 is 8.8 meters wide, 110.5 meters long and completely covered. Parallel to the eastern platform track 2 is the siding 3, which can only be reached from the main tracks via a saw drive .

The station building was largely demolished in 1988, but rebuilt according to the original plans under the direction of Rupert Stuhlemmer and reopened on July 17, 1989. Below this is the access to a double-track parking facility in the tunnel under Argentinische Allee. Their sidings (track 11 and 12) are continuations of the two main tracks without a switch connection.

A trapezoidal track changeover and additional sidings (tracks 4 to 9) are located at the other end of the station. Until 1968 there was a small maintenance workshop in the car hall, behind the hall there is a rectifier factory .

Planning

An extension of the U3 line to the south, as a result of which the existing 200-meter-long siding under Argentinische Allee would have to be converted into track tracks, has been under discussion since the 1980s. However, for the time being it is uncertain whether it will be implemented for financial reasons.

Others

On June 6, 2009, as part of a celebration, the previously unnamed square in front of the train station was named after its builder Alfred Grenander , who also had a major influence on early Berlin subway construction.

Connection

At the underground station you can change from the U3 line to the BVG bus lines 118 and X11 and to the 622 bus line of the Potsdam-Mittelmark Regiobus .
