The UNESCO prizes are awards that are usually awarded annually or biennially by the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization ( UNESCO ) in various subject areas.

Prices

Natural sciences

Several of the following UNESCO World Science Awards will be presented during the annual World Science Day (November 10th).

  • UNESCO Science Prize
  • Carlos J. Finlay Prize for Microbiology Microbiology (Carlos J. Finlay Prize for Meritorious Work in Microbiology), named after Carlos Finlay
  • Javed Husain Prize for Young Scientists, named after the Indian Javed Husain
  • Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation, in cooperation with the Sultan of Oman , Qabus ibn Said
  • Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science (Kalinga Prize for popularization of Science), named after the ancient Indian kingdom of Kalinga
  • Great Man-Made River International Water Prize, full name: Great Man-Made River International Prize for Water Resources in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas), named after the Great-Man-Made River project in Libya
  • MAB Young Scientists Awards, as part of the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere program
  • UNESCO / Institut Pasteur Medal (UNESCO / Institut Pasteur Medal for an outstanding contribution to the development of scientific knowledge that has a beneficial impact on human health), in cooperation with the Institut Pasteur
  • UNESCO / L'Oréal Prize for Women in Science (L'Oréal / UNESCO Prize For Women in Science ), awarded as part of the UNESCO program For Women in Science (three components: international prizes, grants and national prizes)
  • Mondialogo Engineering Award (prize for teams of young engineers from several nations, awarded as part of the Mondialogo program by UNESCO and Daimler AG )
  • ERAIFT regional postgraduate school Prize, awarded in cooperation with the Regional School for Integrated Management of Tropical Forests (Ecole Régionale post-universitaire d'Aménagement et de gestion Intégrés des Forêts et Territoires tropicaux) in Kinshasa
  • Michel Batisse Award for Biosphere Reserve Management, named after a former Deputy Director General of UNESCO, the French Michel Batisse
  • Mercosur Award in Science and Technology, for scientists from the member states of Mercosur
  • Research Grants for Young Scientists specializing in Great Apes of Africa, grant for young scientists in the field of great ape research in Africa as part of the UNESCO Man and Biosphere (MAB) program
  • Obiang Nguema Mbasogo Prize (UNESCO Obiang Nguema Mbasogo International Prize for Research in the life sciences), in cooperation with the President of Equatorial Guinea , Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo
