The (Klettenberger) Mühlgraben , historically also called Uffe , is an approximately 5 km long, north-north-west and orographically left tributary of the Ichte in the Thuringian district of Nordhausen .
Course and catchment area
The Mühlgraben begins on the border between Thuringia and Lower Saxony in the Southern Harz Nature Park, not far from the Uffe River , from which it was once artificially branched off. Its origin lies north of the Hohenstein district of Klettenberg at about 260 m above sea level. NHN on the eastern slope of Eselsberg ( 278.6 m ) - a few meters before a bridge on Kreisstraße 9.
The current flowing mainly to the south-southeast mill stream passes through the Hohenstein districts Klettenberg and Holbach to shortly thereafter - about 300 meters south of the Holbacher Wiesenmuhle - at 206.2 m height in the helmets influx gel density to open .
The catchment area of the Mühlgraben is very strongly shaped by karst phenomena (several pool springs and infiltration sections).
history
The Klettenberger Mühlgraben was artificially created in the 17th century as a branch from the Uffe , which strives towards the Wieda and is called Sachsengraben in the lower reaches . The branch is located near the of Lower Saxony Bad Sachsa belonging Neuhof . By 1961 the water in Klettenberg and Holbach drove up to ten mills. The Mühlgraben crossed the watershed between the Uffe and Ichte in a north-south direction using small hollows .
