Ulrich Gottfried Leinsle

Ulrich Gottfried Leinsle OPraem (born October 4, 1948 in Mittelrieden ) is a Roman Catholic religious and theologian.

Life

From 1968 to 1976 he studied Catholic theology in Augsburg and Munich and philosophy in Innsbruck and Rome ( Gregoriana ). He has been a Premonstratensian of Schlägl Abbey since 1970 . In 1974 he received the Dr. theol. at the Grabmann Institute and in 1979 the Dr. phil. (Rome). After ordination in 1975 he was assistant and lecturer at the Catholic Theological University in Linz from 1978 to 1981 . From 1981 to 1989 he taught as a professor of philosophy at the Catholic Theological University in Linz. After his habilitation in Christian philosophy in 1985 at the University of Innsbruck, he was rector of the Catholic Theological University in Linz from 1986 to 1988 . Since 1989 he has been professor for systematic theology (philosophical-theological propaedeutics) at the University of Regensburg . Since 1997 he has been President of the Historical Commission of the Premonstratensian Order. From 1998 to 2000 he was Vice Rector of the University of Regensburg. Since 2009 he has been a member of the commission for research into the culture of the late Middle Ages of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen . He received the Josef Dobrovský Medal of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic for services to philological and philosophical sciences in 2012. On April 1, 2013, he retired. His work on the history of scholastic philosophy of the Middle Ages and modern times found international recognition.
