The lower mill stood in Nörvenich in the Düren district near the Neffelbach on a former mill ditch branching off from it in the Kastanienweg. It was popularly called Badenheuer's mill .
history
The mill had an undershot water wheel and a grinder . It was a grain grinder . The owner, Reinhard Badenheuer from Nörvenich, expanded the mill to two grinding stages between 1820 and 1830 and also built a barley hull.
The initials of the owner (RB) were visible from afar on the roof of the mill building. All facilities were still in place inside. The mill ditch was filled in many years ago.
In 2016 it was decided to demolish all buildings in order to accommodate the establishment of a local supply in the form of a grocery discount. The buildings were demolished in September / October 2017.
When the mill building was demolished, oak piles from the 14th century came to light, which served as pile foundations and suggest an older predecessor.
The homeland and history association of the municipality of Nörvenich e. V. erected a memorial at the previous location on August 16, 2018.
