Untergeiersnest is a hamlet belonging to Schönderling and, like Schönderling, part of the Lower Franconian market Schondra in the Bavarian district of Bad Kissingen .
Geographical location
Schönderling is located southwest of Schondra. The Leichtersbach runs west of Untergeiersnest .
The B 27 , which runs through Untergeiersnest, leads northwards via Unterleichtersbach , Oberleichtersbach and Buchrasen to Bad Brückenau and southwards via Neuwirtshaus (district of Wartmannsroth ) and Untererthal (district of Hammelburg ) to Hammelburg. To the east, Untergeiersnest is connected to Schönderling .
history
The founding year of Untergeiersnest, which used to be called Niedergeiersnest, has not been confirmed with any certainty. According to the oral tradition of a Schönderlinger from 1602, the place was created in 1550 as a settlement of farmers from Schwärzelbach (now part of Wartmannsroth ). According to local researcher Joosef Wabra, however, Untergeiersnest was not founded until 1560. Possibly the place arose due to its convenient location in terms of traffic connections after the establishment of an inn.
During the Thirty Years War , the inhabitants fled Untergeiersnest in October 1634, when the place and its surroundings were devastated by Croats. The place was not inhabited again until after 1650.
In 1808 Untergeiersnest came to Schönderling, but on a pastoral level it still belonged to the parish of Oberleichtersbach .
In 1874 a school was built in Untergeiersnest.
On May 1, 1978, Schönderling was incorporated into the Schondra market as part of the municipal reform. Untergeiersnest has been part of Schondra since then.
