The Unterroggenburg Forest on the eastern edge of the Neu-Ulm district

The sub Roggenburger Forest is a 17.62 km² unincorporated community in the district of Neu-Ulm in Bavarian Swabia . It is mostly forested and uninhabited.

The area lies on the eastern border of the Neu-Ulm district and the Günzburg district . The southern border to the community-free area Oberroggenburger Wald forms the state road St 2018 .

The area is mainly used for forestry. The Ingstetter Weiher in the area was originally created as a fish pond in the 1930s in order to be able to supply the population with protein. In the Schwarzbach catchment area, the pond contributes to flood protection as a retention basin. In the 1960s and 1970s, it was used as a swimming lake. With the expansion of the Oberrieder Weiher near Breitenthal in the district of Günzburg to a local recreation area, the Ingstetter Weiher slowly lost its attractiveness as a bathing lake and was finally placed under protection as a large natural monument . Since August 1982 the lake, the reed beds surrounding it and silting zones in the bank area as well as the adjoining alder and willow stocks have been protected as an extensive natural monument.
