Utvin (German: Utwin , Hungarian: Ötvény ) is a village in Timiș County , Banat , Romania . Utvin is part of the Sânmihaiu Român community .
Geographical location
Utvin is located west of Timișoara , on the left bank of the Bega . Up to the outskirts of Timișoara it is 2-3 kilometers on the county road DJ591. The distance to the city center is 9 kilometers. Utvin is located on the Timișoara- Cruceni railway line .

history
A first documentary mention of the town of Uthwin and Kis Otveny can be found in the papal tithe lists from 1333-1334. In 1338 Pogany Domokoş – Dominique was the landowner of the settlement, which at the time had market rights . In 1456 Johann Hunyadi is the landlord of the estate, but in the same year it was sold by his sons Matei and Latcu to Szilagyi Mihai de Horegsec. Olah Iakob is recorded in the deeds in 1540 as the landlord of Utvin. In 1912 Mihai Acxel de Zombor and Valentin Watz are the landlords. In the village there was the brick factory Dunster and Wetzler. Later landlords were Olah Miclos, Mihail Oexel and Baron von Ronay.

Until 1526 Utvin belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary . During the Ottoman rule (1526-1718) Utvin belonged to the Vilâyet Timișoara. From 1718 to 1778 the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat . In 1778 the Banat was awarded to the Kingdom of Hungary by Empress Maria Theresa . From 1849 to 1860 it was part of an independent crown land of the Voivodeship of Serbia and Temescher Banat . After the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three parts, whereby Utvin fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
