Víctor Selvino Arenhart

Víctor Selvino Arenhart , also Arenhardt , (born December 23, 1948 in Campo Grande , † May 17, 2010 at Caraguatay in the Montecarlo Department ) was an Argentine clergyman and bishop of Oberá .

Life

Víctor Selvino Arenhart, son of German immigrants, studied from 1970 to 1972 philosophy at the seminary of Paraná and from 1973 to 1976 theology at the seminary in Cordoba . He was ordained a priest on March 5, 1977 . He was vicar in St. Anthony in Oberá and later pastor of Our Lady of Fatima in Montecarlo , the capital of the Montecarlo department . From February 1980 to June 1981 he was pastor again in St. Antonius in Oberá. From June 1981 to April 1985 he held the office of rector of the diocesan seminary of Posadas and was then again pastor in St. Antonius in Oberá until February 1997. Since 1985 he was also engaged as a chaplain in the penal institutions of the province of Misiones . Since February 1997 he has been pastor of the San Jose Cathedral in Posadas.

In 1998, Víctor Arenhart was appointed vicar general of the diocese of Posadas . In 2000 he was diocesan administrator until Juan Rubén Martinez was appointed Bishop of Posadas . In 2001 he was reappointed Vicar General and Director of the Clergy.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on June 13, 2009 first bishop of the diocese of Oberá . The episcopal ordination received his 15 August 2009 Archbishop Adriano Bernardini , Apostolic Nuncio in Argentina; Co- consecrators were the bishop of his home diocese of Posadas, Juan Rubén Martinez, and the archbishop of Resistencia and former bishop of Posadas, Carmelo Juan Giaquinta .

He died with the Chancellor of the Diocesan Curia, Hugo Oscar Staciuk, of the consequences of a car accident on Ruta Nacional 12 near Caraguatay in the north-west of the province of Misiones .
