history

The history of VBU Volksbank im Unterland eG is shaped by mergers and amalgamations of several small banking institutions between 1971 and 2002. The banks were founded between 1888 and 1923 based on the cooperative idea of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen and Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch .

Individual institutes

Lauffen am Neckar

On July 19, 1891, the Lauffen eGmuH loan association was founded. This went on March 4, 1923 in the credit and goods cooperative with unlimited liability. 177 members joined the new cooperative. On December 4, 1949, it was decided to change the name to a cooperative bank . In 1951 the reconstruction of the war-damaged building was completed and the bank rooms could be expanded. In 1960 the company was changed to Lauffener Bank eGmbh. In June 1991 the merger with Volksbank Nordheim eG was entered in the cooperative register. The company was now Volksbank Lauffen-Nordheim eG . In 1997 this merged with Volksbank Leingarten-Schwaigern eG to form VBU Volksbank im Unterland eG.

Neckarwestheim

In 1901 the Neckarwestheim Loan Association was founded. In 2002, Neckarwestheimer Bank eG was merged into VBU Volksbank im Unterland eG.

Nordheim

On June 17, 1888, 31 citizens founded the loan association eGmuH Nordheim. The balance at that time was only 74.52 marks. The bank was later renamed Nordheimer Bank eG. In 1972 the merger with Genossenschaftsbank Nordhausen eGmbH took place, and in June 1991 with Volksbank Lauffen eG to form Volksbank Lauffen-Nordheim eG.

Nordhausen

On January 6, 1920 the loan association eGmuH was founded. In 1972 the merger with Nordheimer Bank eG took place.

Schwaigern headquarters

On March 20, 1904, 128 citizens founded a loan association at the instigation of Karl Essich, the city school council. At that time, a business share was 100 marks. Business was initially carried out in the town hall. In the course of hyperinflation in 1923, loan interest was up to 30 percent, which ultimately made all of the cooperative's assets worthless. In 1937, the cooperative was renamed to Spar- und Kreditkasse eGmuH. A year later, the Schwaigern vineyard cooperative transferred management to the savings and loan fund.

In 1950 the name of the bank was changed to Genossenschaftsbank Schwaigern eGmuH. The Schwaigern vineyard cooperative now ran its business independently. On the 50th anniversary of the bank, the first bank building was acquired. After the renovation and construction of an adjoining warehouse in Frizstrasse, the bank moved into its own premises for the first time on July 1, 1955. In 1964 the bank was renamed Schwaigerner Bank eG . After the merger with Raiffeisenbank Massenbach in 1971, the new bank building was inaugurated a year later. 1978 was merged with the Raiffeisenbank Massenbachhausen. In 1982 the bank had more than 3,000 members and the balance sheet total reached the DM 100 million mark. In 1983 the bank was renamed Volksbank Schwaigern eG and the first ATMs were installed.

In 1988 the Raiffeisenbank Oberes Leintal eG was incorporated with branches in Stetten aH and Niederhofen. Four years later, the Volksbank Leingarten was merged to form Volksbank Leingarten-Schwaigern eG. The bank building in Schwaigern was expanded again and at the end of 1995 we moved into its current appearance. In 1997 the merger with Volksbank Lauffen-Nordheim eG took place to form VBU Volksbank im Unterland eG. The last merger took place in 2002 with Neckarwestheimer Bank eG. In 2012 the bank celebrates its 15th anniversary under the company VBU Volksbank im Unterland eG.

Merger with Volksbank Brackenheim-Güglingen eG

In 2016, VBU Volksbank im Unterland eG merged with Volksbank Brackenheim-Güglingen eG. The company remained unchanged VBU Volksbank im Unterland eG . Brackenheim became the new legal seat.
