The VSG Coburg / Grub was a volleyball community of the clubs Coburg Turnerschaft from Coburg and the TSV Grub in Upper Franconia , whose first men's team played in the first volleyball Bundesliga .

history

In 1970 the volleyball department of the Coburg gymnastics club was founded. There was also a volleyball department at the neighboring club TSV Grub. The VSG Coburg / Grub was created in 2001 through the merger of the volleyball departments of both main clubs. In 2011 the club was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga and in 2013 to the 1st Bundesliga. The first men's team was run by VSG Coburg / Grub GmbH, which filed for bankruptcy in spring 2016. The license holder for the game of the first men's team was the Coburg gymnastics club.

The successor in 2016 was the “SG Teamwork” syndicate, a union of volleyball players from the Coburg gymnastics association, BSC Teamwork Ebersdorf and TSV Grub am Forst. This syndicate has over 100 athletes in two women's and five men's teams (as of 2016). The first men's team started in the Upper Franconian District League.
