The 2011/12 VTB United League season was the third regular season of the VTB basketball league. 18 teams from 9 countries took part in the 2011/12 VTB United League season. The representative of Finland, it would be the 10 participating country, failed in the qualification. The qualifiers were played in September and October. The season began on October 6, 2011 and ended with the final on May 3, 2012 in Vilnius in the home arena of the Lietuvos rytas club . The winner was CSKA Moscow for the third time .

qualification

Although the number of participants was again increased, the number of those interested in the VTB United League was higher than the number of possible participants. A qualification was played for the first time in the 2011/12 season. First, two groups of three played a round in each against each other. The top two in each round qualified for the final round of qualification. The games qualifying rounds were all played from September 27 to October 1, 2011 in Šiauliai , Lithuania .

Group Stage - Regular Season

In this first phase, the 18 teams compete in two groups in home and away games. Each team plays 16 games. The two group winners qualify directly for the final four. The teams in places 2-4 play the remaining two places in play-off mode.

Play-offs

In the round of 16, the 3rd placed in the regular season play against the 4th placed in the other group. The winners meet the second in the group stage in the quarter-finals. The winners complete the final four field.
