The 2012/13 VTB United League season was the fourth season of the VTB basketball league. 20 teams from 9 countries took part in the 2012/13 VTB United League season. The season began in October 2012 and ended in May 2013. The winner was CSKA Moscow for the fourth time.

Tournament format

In the regular season, the 20 teams played two rounds each against each other in two groups. The six best in each group then took part in the play-offs. The first and second placed in the round of 16 had a bye.

In the last sixteen a team needed two wins to advance, from the quarterfinals three wins were necessary.

Compared to the previous year, two teams were eliminated. Asseco Prokom had to leave the league due to financial difficulties. BC Budiwelnik Kiev was excluded because of excessive financial demands.

The teams from Neptūnas Klaipėda from Lithuania, Triumph Ljuberzy from Russia and Turów Zgorzelec from Poland were newcomers .

BK Donetsk from Ukraine returned to the participants by wild card .
