Valerio Onida (born March 30, 1936 in Milan ) is an Italian lawyer and was chairman of the Italian Constitutional Court for a while in 2004 .

Life and professional activities

In 1958 Onida graduated from the University of Milan with a law degree from Egidio Tosato . At the same university he taught constitutional law until 2011 . Between 1970 and 1983 he also taught at the universities of Sassari and Pavia .

On January 24, 1996, the Italian parliament elected Valerio Onida as judge of the Constitutional Court , of which he was chairman from September 22, 2004 to January 30, 2005.

In 2010 Onida ran for the Milan mayoral election, which was due to take place in the spring of 2011. Since the left alliance had organized a prefix , he was subject to the lawyer and former MP Giuliano Pisapia .
