Valerio Valeri
Valerio Cardinal Valeri (born November 7, 1883 in Santa Fiora , Grosseto Province , Italy , † July 22, 1963 in Rome ) was a Cardinal Curia of the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
Valerio Valeri studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Rome . He received on 21 December 1907, the sacrament of Holy Orders , and then worked as a lecturer at the Seminary of Fano. From 1904 to 1920 he was a theology lecturer in Rome, during the First World War he served as a military chaplain . In 1920 he entered the service of the Vatican State Secretariat , from 1921 he worked for the Apostolic Nunciature in France .
In 1927 Pope Pius XI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Ephesus and ordered him to apostolic delegate for Egypt and Arabia. The episcopal ordination received his Donato Raffaele Cardinal Sbarretti Tazza ; Co- consecrators were Curia Archbishop Pietro Benedetti and Giuseppe Angelucci , Bishop of Città della Pieve . In 1933 Pope Pius XI sent him. as apostolic nuncio to Romania , in 1936 he assigned him the same task in France. At the end of his service in France in 1944, Valerio Valeri was awarded the Great Cross of the Legion of Honor . From 1944 to 1948 he worked in the Department for Special Church Affairs within the Vatican State Secretariat.
In 1948 Pope Pius XII appointed him . as Assessor of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches and in 1950 President of the Central Committee for the Preparation and Implementation of the Holy Year . On January 12, 1953, Valerio Valeri was appointed by Pope Pius XII. accepted into the College of Cardinals as cardinal priest with the titular church of San Silvestro in Capite and appointed cardinal prefect of the religious congregation . He attended the first session of the Second Vatican Council .
Valerio Valeri died in Rome on July 22, 1963 and was buried in his family's crypt in Santa Fiora.
