The Suco is located to the west of the Maubara administrative office. To the east is the Suco Gugleur and in the south Vatuboro borders on the Atabae administrative office, which belongs to the municipality of Bobonaro, with its Sucos Aidabaleten and Rairobo . In the west and north lies the Sawu Sea . Cape Ponta Carimbala forms the north-western tip , while Cape Ponta Vatoboro Ilo is halfway to the border with Aidabaleten . In the north, the Baulu rises in the border area to Gugleur and follows the border to the Sawusee. To the south of the Ponta Vatoboro Ilo, near the coast, are the lakes Lago Tokabalun and Lago Berau , which have several tributaries that have their source in Vatuboro. The southern border of the Sucos forms the mouth of the Lóis . Before the 2015 territorial reform, Vatuboro had an area of ​​48.36 km². Now there are 43.67 km². The border with Gugleur was redrawn.

The northern coastal road, one of the most important traffic routes in the country, largely follows the course of the coast in Vatuboro. Only in the south does it swivel further inland to cross the Lóis over a bridge. To the south are the villages of Gulumanu , Reiglelu , Cai-Bair ( Caibair ), Varuleurai ( Vatuleurai ) and Leopalaka ( Lepalaka ). The towns of Sabulau and Flarsima ( Flarsirna ) are located near Lake Tokabaiun , with the village of Kaibair to the east . In the north are the localities Raeglelu ( Raiglelu ), Vaupu ( Waupu ), Vauviana ( Vawinana ), Tobau , Fasili and Kelisifo ( Kelisifu ). There is a primary school in Gulumanu and a pre-secondary school in Leopalaka.

The five Aldeias Cai-Bair , Raeglelu , Sabulau , Tatamolobu and Vaupu are located in the Suco .

Residents

The Suco has 2791 inhabitants (2015), of which 1450 are men and 1341 women. The population density is 63.9 inhabitants / km². There are 493 households in the Suco. Almost 86% of the population give Tokodede as their mother tongue. Almost 11% speak Tetum Prasa , while small minorities speak Kemak , Tetum Terik , Bunak , Idaté or Mambai .

In 1893 the Maubara empire, along with Atabae , revolted against the expansion of military and administrative control over Portugal . The Liurai attacked two Portuguese military posts in Dato and Vatuboro and tried to win the Dutch back as a protective power. The uprising failed.

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Roque do C. Lopes elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
