The Blackbuck National Park near Velavadar , named after the Blackbuck (English for stag goat antelope ), is a national park that was founded primarily to protect this antelope species. It is located in the Indian state of Gujarat and covers an area of about 34 square kilometers. The landscape is characterized by flat, open grassland.

In the national park there is also the rare Indian wolf , which feeds largely on the stag goat antelopes. There are around 140–160 stag goat antelopes for each wolf, each of which kills an average of 30–40 antelopes per year. The historical maximum population of these antelopes in the park was around 1700 animals, which would feed around 10 wolves. Other species in the area are Nilgau antelopes , reed cats , golden jackals and wild boars . The rare flag busters can still make a living here.
