Vennesla is a municipality in southern Norway .
It is located around 17 km north of the city of Kristiansand in the province of Agder . Historically, Vennesla is a small industrial town. The main employer was the paper industry, especially the Hunsfos fabrikker plant , which went bankrupt in 2011. The company Huntonit AS (part of the Byggma group), formerly Norsk Wallboard AS, continues to supply a wide range of wood products for the construction industry (e.g. damp-proof panels, lighting, worktops, floors, wooden beams, MDF boards, etc.). In addition to the wood processing industry, Reber Schindler Heis AS is an important employer in Vennesla. Various types of elevators, escalators and baggage carousels are developed, produced and sold worldwide here.
