is aThe current municipality of Valle was formed on January 1, 1962 from the two formerly independent municipalities of Valle and Hylestad. There are two centers, Valle and Rysstad, the administrative center is in Valle. Both centers have a church and shops. In Rysstad there is the Setesdal Museum with the museum village Rygnestadtunet .
The river Otra flows through the municipality of Valle and the lake Store Bjørnevatn is also located in it. The western part of the municipality is part of the Setesdal Vesthei , where Europe's southernmost wild reindeer populations can be found.
Valle is surrounded by several high rock faces, through which numerous described climbing routes lead.
