Farsund is a municipality in the Agder province in Norway . The area of the coastal commune is bordered by Kvinesdal to the north-west and Lyngdal to the south-east, and the North Sea to the south and west.
Farsund was created in 1965 through the merger of the former municipalities Lista, Herad and Spind.
Farsund's main sources of income today are the Elkem Aluminum and Alcoa industries, as well as tourism and agriculture. The local newspaper is called Lister (formerly Farsunds Avis ) .
