Sirdal is a municipality in the Agder province in Norway . It is located in the northwest of the province. At the northern end of its elongated narrow lake Sirdalsvatn is the administrative headquarters in the village of Tonstad .

The municipality of Sirdal was created in 1960 from the amalgamation of the former municipalities of Øvre Sirdal and Tonstad and the village of Haugom.

The name is derived from the name of the Sira flowing through the valley .
