history
The Verbandsgemeinde goes back to the Electorate of Vallendar with the villages of Vallendar, Hillscheid, Höhr, Mallendar and Weitersburg, which was established in 1767. In 1802 it was expanded to include Engers and Grenzhausen. In 1815, with the transition to the Kingdom of Prussia, a new office of Vallendar was established, which, significantly reduced, only included Vallendar, Mallendar and Weitersburg. Two years later Niederwerth was incorporated and the office was named Mayor's Office Vallendar . Vallendar left this in 1856, so that the two mayorships of Vallendar-Stadt and Vallendar-Land (with Mallendar, Niederwerth and Weitersburg) existed, which were later given the name "Office" again. In 1937 the places Arenberg , Arzheim , Immendorf and Urbar were incorporated into the office of Vallendar-Land, and in 1939 Mallendar was incorporated into Vallendar-Stadt.
In 1970, the present-day community community emerged from the office of Vallendar-Stadt and the places Niederwerth, Urbar and Weitersburg, after Arenberg, Arzheim and Immendorf had been incorporated into the city of Koblenz .
