The Verbandsgemeinde Weißenthurm is an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional authority in the district of Mayen-Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate . The two cities of Mülheim-Kärlich and Weißenthurm as well as five independent local communities belong to the association , the administrative seat is in the eponymous city of Weißenthurm.
With 34,833 inhabitants, it is one of the largest association communities in Rhineland-Palatinate.

history
The community of Weißenthurm was created in the context of the functional and territorial reform of Rhineland-Palatinate, which began in the 1960s, on October 1, 1968 from the Weißenthurm office, which was dissolved at the same time .

Association municipal council
The Weissenthurm municipal council consists of 40 honorary council members, who were elected in a personalized proportional representation in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the full-time mayor as chairman.

mayor
Thomas Przybylla (CDU) has been the mayor of the Weissenthurm community since June 27, 2018. In the direct election on November 19, 2017, he was elected for an eight-year term with 72.9% of the votes. Przybylla is the successor to Georg Hollmann (CDU), who did not run again.
