Vicente Sasot Fraucà (born January 21, 1918 in Peñalba , Huesca , † April 12, 1985 in Barcelona ), Catalan Vicenç Sasot , was a Spanish football player and coach.

Career

In 1935 he played for a club from Sant Cugat . After the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939, he joined Real Valladolid . In the 1943/44 season, the defender played with CE Sabadell for the first time in the Spanish first division . He played his first game in the Primera División on the first day of the season in the 2-5 defeat against Sevilla FC . This season he played two more league games, at the same time his last first division appearances. He eventually ended his career at UE Sants .

Subsequent to his playing career he began his coaching activity, among other things he coached UE Sants , UE Lleida , FC Reus and the Catalan football team .

He also worked as a coach at FC Barcelona for 13 years . There he initially trained the various youth teams until he became head coach of the first team in the 1964/65 season . Barcelona lost 5-1 to UD Levante on matchday five of this season and were 10th in the table, as a consequence César Rodríguez was sacked and Sasot became the new coach. Sasot was only able to lead Barcelona to sixth place this season. Also disappointing was the early elimination in the third round of the Messestädte Cup 1964/65 , which came about in a curious way: after Barça initially drew twice against Racing Strasbourg in this round , a playoff had to be made, but there was no winner there either could, the coin toss had to come from. After this season, FC Barcelona found a new head coach in Roque Olsen , Sasot initially remained his assistant coach.

In the 1968/69 season he coached RCD Mallorca until February 1969 , which rose to the first division that season.

In his later coaching career, he was also employed twice at FC Girona .
