Viktor Hájek

Viktor Hájek (born July 15, 1900 in Hustopeče ; † March 7, 1968 in Prague ) was a Czech theologian and from 1950 to 1968, as a synodal senior, the highest representative of the Evangelical Church of the Bohemian Brethren .

Life

He obtained his university entrance qualification in Brno at the 1st Czech State Gymnasium . He then studied history and philosophy at the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University and after a year switched to the Czechoslovak Evangelical-theological Hus Faculty in Prague. He also studied one semester at the Slovak Theological Faculty in Bratislava . After completing his studies in 1924, he went with JB Souček at the Westminster College in Cambridge , England . The archives of the parish corps of the ECCB Brno II contain letters that he wrote from Scotland to his father Ladislav Hajek, pastor in Miroslav .

From October 19, 1925 he was a vicar and from August 12, 1926 to July 31, 1929 a pastor in a church in Růžďka .

From 1 August 1929 to 14 February 1950, the priest was in Brno based on his successful defense of dissertation The dogma of Petr Chelčický on 11 March 1930 the HČEFB a doctorate in theology doctorate . Between 1940 and 1947 he was a senior in the Brno Seniorate. From 1929 to 1948 he taught Protestant religion in the class of Captain Jaroš at the grammar school .

From February 1, 1947 to February 14, 1950 he was the Deputy Synod Senior. From February 14, 1950 to March 7, 1968 he chaired a synod in Prague.

Hájek had been President of the Christian Peace Conference since 1958 . He was also elected to their continuation committees.

He married Klára Hajtšová (1904–1973), with whom he had two children.

At the funeral on March 15, 1968, Václav Kejř spoke about the words of the Apostle Paul “By the grace of God I am what I am”. Viktor Hájek found his final resting place in the parish graves of Miroslav.
