Vila Verde is a municipality and locality in north-eastern Portugal , in the Trás-os-Montes region .

history

The remains of the slate fortifications date from Roman times and date from the first to the second century AD. A Roman road ran not far from the facility.

On the other hand, surprisingly little is known about the origins of today's town. In 1801 it was listed as a village with 168 inhabitants and belonging to the Mirandela district .

In the course of the various administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , Vila Verde came to the Vinhais district. In 1849 there were 438 inhabitants here.
