Vilar de Ossos is a village and municipality in north-eastern Portugal , in the Trás-os-Montes region .
Culture and sights
The parish's architectural monuments include various sacred buildings , including the Mannerist - Baroque parish church Igreja Paroquial de Vilar de Ossos , built in 1699 , named after its patron saint St. Cyprian of Carthage also Igreja de São Cipriano .
In addition to a stone fountain, the Solar de Vilar de Ossos mansion, built at the end of the 17th century, should be mentioned in particular . It is also known as the Casa Grande de Vilar de Ossos and more specifically as the Palacete da Família Pinto de Morais Bacelar , named after the noble family Pinto de Morais Bacelar who lived here. The most famous son was General Manuel Pinto de Morais Bacelar (1741-1816), opponent of the French General Masséna in the Napoleonic Wars on the Iberian Peninsula .
