Vivid Curls is an Allgäu folk rock band that sings mainly in the Allgäu dialect .

history

The band was originally founded in 2002 by Irene Schindele (born October 19, 1980 in Munich ) and Inka Kuchler (born March 1, 1977 in Kempten (Allgäu) ), who grew up together in Wiggensbach , as a street music duo. Since 2007 they have mostly performed together with a band. The band name Vivid Curls ( Eng . "Lively Locken") they gave themselves based on their flowing hair.

After the albums Allgäu and Lebenstanz were released, there were TV and radio appearances, concerts in the tavern in the slaughterhouse , at the Tollwood Festival , in the Parktheater Göggingen , at the Golden Yellow Festival and others.

The album “Eine Welt” (2016) was released on the label “Sturm & Klang” by Konstantin Wecker . They took over the background on his album “ Poetry and Resistance ” (2017).

style

After the Vivid Curls beginning mostly English pop and rock - cover songs brought them, they are now using more and more on their own compositions and sing their songs almost exclusively in Allgäu dialect. According to their own statement, the group would like to contribute to preserving the Allgäu dialect as a cultural asset with their dialect music .

Awards and grants

In 2010 the band won the German Rock & Pop Prize in the “Best German Pop Singing Group” category and in the following year in the “Best German Pop Singing Group” and “Best German Country Band” categories.

Production, tour, PR and marketing are supported by Initiative Musik .

In 2016 they received the Hanns Seidel Foundation's young talent award .
