Vjačeslavs Fanduls (born March 17, 1969 in Leningrad , Russian SFSR ) is a former Latvian ice hockey player who played for the Berlin Capitals in the German ice hockey league and in the Finnish SM-liiga from 1988 to 2010 .

Career

Vjačeslavs Fanduls began his career as a hockey player at Dinamo Riga , for which he was active from 1988 to 1992 in the Vysschaya League , the highest Soviet division, with the team taking on the 1991/92 season under the name Stars Riga. The center then went to Finland, where he played for Ässät Pori in the SM-liiga for two years . The 1994/95 season he began at HPK Hämeenlinna , for which he only played three games before moving to TPS Turku within the top Finnish division . With TPS he became Finnish champion at the end of the season and contributed to this success with 38 scorer points, including 20 goals, in 45 games. He also spent the following season at TPS, where he ran up in the playoffs for the Riga Alianse in the Latvian ice hockey league. For these he was the league's top scorer in the playoffs with seven goals each and seven assists.

From 1996 to 1999 Fanduls was on the ice for his ex-club Ässät Pori in the SM-liiga. He then moved to the second division club Kärpät Oulu , with whom he immediately succeeded in advancing to the SM-liiga. In the 1999/2000 season he was also elected to the all-star team of the second-class I divisioona. After another season in the SM-liiga with Kärpät Oulu, he accepted a contract offer from Berlin Capitals from the German Ice Hockey League for the 2001/02 season . For this he scored 25 scorer points in 59 games, including 13 goals. After the club had to withdraw from the DEL due to financial problems after the season, the Latvian ran for Ässät Pori in the SM-liiga for another two years. The 2004/05 season he bridged the Finnish second division Vaasan Sport in the Mestis . In the following season he started with ASK / Ogre in his Latvian homeland. He then joined the Traktor Chelyabinsk in Wysschaja League , the second Russian league and the GCK Lions in the Swiss National League B on.

From 2006 to 2008, the 2002 Olympian played for the Frederikshavn White Hawks in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen . There he was one of the leading players in the team from the start and in the two years in Denmark scored an average of just under one scorer point per game. From 2008 to 2010 he played again in his home country for the ASK / Ogre (from the 2009/10 season HK Ogre) - first in the Belarusian extra league and then in the Latvian ice hockey league , before ending his career at the age of 41 .

International

For Latvia , Fanduls took part in the B World Championships in 1994 , 1995 and 1996 and the A World Championships in 1999 , 2000 , 2001 , 2002 , 2003 and 2004 . He was also in his country's squad at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City .
