Vlastimil Palička (born July 23, 1954 in Olomouc ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .

Player career

Palička played in his youth for Sigma Lutín, his two years of military service he completed with Dukla Brno and VTJ Hradec Králové. At the age of 22, the midfielder moved to the then third division team Sigma Olomouc and rose with him to the second division. He was signed by Škoda Pilsen , for which he completed 51 first division appearances in two and a half years, in which he scored four goals.

In early 1980, Palička moved to the 2nd division to TJ TŽ Třinec , after two years he returned to Olomouc, which now played in the first Czechoslovak league, but could not hold the class in 1982/83. The immediate ascent succeeded. For Sigma Palička played a total of 39 first division games, he managed one goal. In the summer of 1986 he moved to Agro Drnovice and at the same time began to work as a youth coach at Sigma Olomouc. He ended his playing career after the 1988/89 season with Spartak Hulín.

Coaching career

From 1986 to 1993 Palička worked in the junior division of Sigma Olomouc. In the 1993/94 season he was assistant coach for the professional team. The following year he coached TJ TŽ Třinec , from 1995 to 1997 the B team of Sigma Olomouc. Then he was again assistant coach for the first division team for two years. From 1999 to 2001 he coached the second division club Baník Ratíškovice , with whom he reached the Czech cup final in the 1999/00 season . There the team lost to Slovan Liberec 1: 2.

His first position in the Gambrinus League was from 2001 to 2003 at FK Jablonec 97 . With Jablonec Palička reached the cup final in 2002/03, but lost with his team to FK Teplice 0-1. After just one win from the first eleven games of the 2003/04 season, he was replaced by Petr Rada .

For the 2004/05 season Palička took over FC Tescoma Zlín , but was dismissed in late October after a 3-1 defeat at 1. FC Slovácko for lack of success. He moved a short time later to SFC Opava , whose coach Pavel Hapal had taken his place in Zlín . Palička could not meet the league requirement in Opava .

In July 2006, Palička was coach at Sigma Olomouc, where he had previously been a player, youth coach, assistant coach and coach of the B team. One point from the first four games was not enough for the club management, which then parted ways with Palička.

He became coach of the Slovak first division club FK AS Trenčín in October 2006 , which he led to relegation. The cooperation was terminated after the entry of Dutch investors into the club.

From the beginning of September 2008 to 2009, Palička was a coach at FC Vítkovice . In 2011 he became a youth coach at the 1st HFK Olomouc .
