Volker Maria Engel

Volker Maria Engel (* 1970 ) is a German director and theater educator .

Life

Volker Maria Engel studied German , art history and philosophy at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg im Breisgau and graduated in 1997 with a Magister Artium . In 1995 he took on an assistant director at the Greizer Theaterherbst . After completing his studies, he worked as assistant director, for example at the Theater Basel in Switzerland in 1998 and from 1999 to 2002 at the Theater Bonn in the Rhine metropolis of Bonn . He completed an additional course of study at the Art Academy for Media in Cologne in 2004.

Since then, Engel has worked as a freelance director and author for numerous theaters , such as in Bonn, Cologne, Basel, Siegburg and Wiesbaden, as well as for various television productions (including WDR and ZDF / Kleines Fernsehspiel ). He was invited among others the International Forum at the Theatertreffen in Berlin , the Bonn Biennale Theater New Plays from Europe as well as the theatrical production Törless at the Youth Theater Bonn to German Theater Award Der Faust .

In 2006, Engel was part of the production team for the ARD documentary series Adventure Luck , which won two Grimme prizes and an Emmy award . His short films and documentaries have been invited to festivals around the world (including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Istanbul, Pärnu and Rio de Janeiro).

Since 2006, Engel as a theater educator for scenes and camera work at the drama school Siegburg in the nearby Bonn district town of Siegburg active and also regularly takes charge of directing in productions at the school's theater, the studio stage Siegburg .

Volker Maria Engel lives in Bonn.
