The drama school Siegburg is a state-recognized, private vocational school for the training of actors , which was founded in 1987 and has been based in Siegburg in North Rhine-Westphalia since 1998 . As a recognized supplementary school, the drama school is also eligible for BAföG . The school has been supported by the registered association Theaterschatz e. V. , which is also based in Siegburg. Since then, the school has been run by René Böttcher and Maike Mielewski.

In the district town of Siegburg, which is part of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region , the drama school has its own theater , the Siegburg studio stage , in which the school's own drama productions are regularly performed in public. The plays are mainly staged by invited directors and some are shown elsewhere in guest performances and theater projects such as in the Rhine metropolises of Cologne and Bonn, as well as at theater festivals. In addition, the theater pedagogues of the drama school and the drama students supervise the children's and youth theater Theater Tollhaus , which also belongs to the school and offers children and young people weekly theater courses.

location

The drama school Siegburg is located together with the studio stage Siegburg and the theater Tollhaus in downtown Siegburg on Humperdinckstraße . The three institutions are located in the building complex of the Community College of purpose association Rhein-Sieg (house no. 27) in which, among other things, the music school of the Engelbert Humperdinck- -Gesellschaft and the night school Rhein-Sieg are located.

History and carrier

The drama school was founded in 1987 by Wolf Bongôrt von Roy (actually Wolf Bongort-von Roy ; 1942-2006) under the name of Theaterfachschule Bongôrt von Roy in Bergisch Gladbach , North Rhine-Westphalia , and according to § 118 School Act NRW - SchulG as a supplementary school with the authorities indicated and recognized by the state. In 1998, Bongôrt von Roy moved his theater school to Siegburg. There he founded a small theater at the same time , which was run in the form of a private theater . This studio stage also served as a training stage (teaching stage) for the drama students at the private drama school now run by him in Siegburg.

In 2004, Bongôrt von Roy moved to Leipzig together with some of the teachers at his theater school to set up  a new drama school at the Theater-Fabrik-Sachsen , which he founded in 2001/2003 and an off-theater in Leipzig- Leutzsch that still exists today Theater school Bongôrt-v. Roy , to bring into being. As a result, his former student, the actor and director René Böttcher , took over both the drama school and the studio stage in November 2004, which he continued as the newly founded drama school in Siegburg and the studio stage in Siegburg . At the same time he founded a theater for children and young people at the studio stage , which was later given the name Theater Tollhaus . As artistic director, Böttcher took over the artistic direction of the studio stage.

The drama school in Siegburg also received state recognition as a vocational school for performing stage arts and regularly trains actors. The drama school was also recognized as eligible for federal training funding. Since 2004, the drama school in Siegburg and the studio stage in Siegburg with the children's and youth theater have been run by René Böttcher together with the actress and director Maike Mielewski.

The three institutions - the Siegburg Drama School, the Siegburg Studiobühne and the Tollhaus Theater - are supported by the registered association Theaterschatz e. V. , of which René Böttcher is also a board member. The sponsoring association is recognized as a non-profit organization and is based in Siegburg.

The principle of the training is to embed the trainees in productions at an early stage and to present these drama productions on the fixed program of the Siegburg studio stage. Every year up to five new productions are developed, which are shown up to 85 times per theater season.
