The Volksbank Stade-Cuxhaven eG is a German cooperative bank based in Stade . Its business area extends along the Lower Elbe from the south-western border of Hamburg to Cuxhaven and also includes the island of Helgoland .
history
On December 3, 1880, 21 citizens of Cuxhaven founded their savings and advances association to help farmers and craftsmen to obtain liquidity even in difficult times. Seven years later - on March 26, 1887 - Stade followed the example of Cuxhaven. Both institutes expanded with their own branches and each merged with small, independent local banks, such as those that existed in villages at the time. The original savings and advance payment associations, however, are considered to be the real nucleus of Volksbank Stade-Cuxhaven. Today's institute was ultimately created through the merger of the Volksbanken Cuxhaven-Hadeln and Stade on January 1, 2000.
