Volkstorf is a district of the town of Dassow in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

geography

The place is four kilometers northwest of Dassow. The Volkstorf district is bounded in the west by the Pötenitzer Wiek and in the south by the Dassower See . The banks of the two bodies of water form the border with Schleswig-Holstein , as the two side bays of the Trave already belong to the neighboring federal state. The near shore areas of the district in the west and northwest are part of the coastal landscape nature reserve between Priwall and Barendorf with the Harkenbäkniederung . The nature reserve Uferzone Dassower See connects seamlessly in the southwest and south . Thus, the entire bank zones of the Volkstorf district are under protection. Apart from smaller areas in the northwest and the settlement area, the rest of the district is part of the EU bird sanctuary "Feldmark and Uferzone an Untertrave and Dassower See".

The neighboring towns are Pötenitz and Feldhusen in the northeast, Johannstorf in the east, Benckendorf in the southeast, Teschow in the southwest and Priwall in the northwest.
