The von Erlach are an ancient noble family of the sovereign city and republic of Bern . The Austrian Lieutenant Field Marshal Hieronymus von Erlach (1667–1748) was raised to the rank of imperial count in 1712 .

Messrs von Erlach were originally ministerials of lords and later Counts of Neuchâtel on Castle Erlach in Erlach on Lake Biel , where she served as neuenburgische Burgmannen served. They have been based in Bern since the early 13th century and belong to the Bern patriciate .
The descendants of Hieronymus von Erlach bear the title Reichsgraf von Erlach.
