Belletruche (1985)

Belletruche is a winery in the commune of Mont-sur-Rolle in La Côte in the canton of Vaud .

history

The Bernese statesman and military leader Hans Franz Nägeli is the earliest verifiable owner of the Belletruche winery. His daughter Magdalena brought the property to her second husband Johann von Wattenwyl (1541–1604) in 1582 . Her granddaughter Magdalena von Wattenwyl brought Belletruche to her husband in 1655, the Venner Hans Rudolf Wurstemberger (1608–1693). On a cadastral plan from around 1715, the estate is called En Collentin . Bartlome May bought the Belletruche winery from the Wurstemberger family in 1746. During this time the winery got its current name Belletruche , named in memory of the house Belles-Truches in Vevey of the de Joffrey family. His son Carl May took over Belletruche in 1760 and bequeathed it to his son Karl Rudolf May. In the next generation, the women's rights activist Julie von May owned the winery. She was married to Friedrich Amadeus Sigmund von May, the owner of Schloss Rued and the Campagne Rörswil . Their daughter Esther von May married Hans von Hallwyl , owner of Hallwyl Castle , in 1861 . The heiress was their daughter Esther Johanna Irmengard von Hallwyl, who was married to the historian Wolfgang Friedrich von Mülinen . Their daughter Johanna Ines Barbara von Mülinen in turn married the engineer Alfred von Erlach (1886–1971), so that after her the estate was passed on to her sons Harald and Thuringia in 1953, and thus to the von Erlach family.

Grape varieties and wines

The winery produces four wines: the Belletruche ( Chasselas ), the Clos de Jérusalem (Chasselas), L'Hirondelle (Chasselas, sparkling wine ) and the Cuvée du Chevalier (red). An eau de vie de lie is also produced.
