history

The first written mention of Vrcov was in 1396. The owners of the largest part of the estate were the Lords of Vrcov. In addition, the Krumlov prelature , the Sviny parish , the Augustinian monastery Borovany and Vladiken von Petrovice later held further shares. The place was at the crossroads of two old trade routes. In 1519 the Rosenbergs acquired the share of the Lords of Vrcov. In 1586 Wilhelm von Rosenberg donated this part to the Jesuit College in Český Krumlov, which from 1626 combined it with the newly acquired Římov estate . After the abolition of the Jesuit order , both goods fell to the religious fund in 1773. In 1802, Prince Joseph II of Schwarzenberg bought Vrcov by auction , and in 1815 he sold the estate to Franz Lang, a citizen of Nettolitz . This sold Vrcov a little later to Joseph Ritter Pachner von Eggenstorf, who united it with the Poříč estate . In October 1839 Pachner von Eggenstorf sold the Poříč estate to the kk shipmaster Karl Adalbert Lanna , who owned it until 1854. In 1840 Wrcow or Wrtzau consisted of a total of 48 houses with 274 Czech-speaking residents. Two houses each were subordinate to the Krumau prelature and to the Wittingau estate , and one house to the Forbes estate. In the village there was a retreat for the carters on the Gypsy Road leading from Forbes to Wittingau. The place was parish after Forbes. Until the middle of the 19th century the village was always divided between different manors.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Vrcov / Wrtzau 1850 a district of the municipality Hluboká u Borovan in the district administration Budějovice / Budweis. In 1908 the village of Vrcov was established with the settlements of Cikánov and Chrastí. Iron ore mining was carried out in the vicinity of the village at that time. In 1914 the municipality of Vrcov / Wrzau had 347 Czech-speaking inhabitants. In 1929 the village was connected to the electricity network. During the German occupation , Vrcov was incorporated into Forbes on April 1, 1943. This incorporation was canceled on August 1, 1945. In 1948 the community was added to the newly formed Okres Trhové Sviny , which was abolished twelve years later. At the beginning of 1961, Vrcov was assigned to the Okres České Budějovice. Since the beginning of 1963 Vrcov has been part of Borovany . In 1991 the place had 112 inhabitants, in the 2001 census there were 136 people in the 77 houses in Vrcov.
