On June 10, 1979, the Verbandsgemeinde Wörth became an association-free city, in which four local districts were set up instead of the originally existing four local communities Büchelberg, Maximiliansau, Schaidt and Wörth.

According to the main statute of the city, the boundaries of the local districts are largely based on the district boundaries of the earlier municipalities corresponding to the territorial status of June 8 and 10, 1979. Only the boundary between the local districts of Büchelberg and Wörth is formed differently from the western edge of the Buchstraße running in the Bienwald .
