The T 4 of the Königlich Württembergische Staats-Eisenbahnen were freight train tender locomotives without running axles with four coupled axles .

description

When the class T 3 locomotives were no longer sufficient for the pushing service on the Geislinger Steige , a locomotive was developed that was supposed to provide twice the performance. Since locomotives were no longer needed for service on the uphill stretch, there were eight copies, five of which were delivered in 1906 and three in 1909. In their time, they were considered to be the heaviest four-coupled locomotives in Germany.

When designing the boiler , special emphasis was placed on a large steam room and a low-lying ceiling of the fire box , so that a feeding process could be ended without topping up water, which would have led to a lowering of the boiler pressure and thus to a decrease in output. The locomotives were equipped with Riggenbach counter-pressure brakes in order to protect the tires and brake pads when going downhill .

The Deutsche Reichsbahn took over all eight locomotives in 1925 and classified them as class 92 1 in their numbering plan . After the Second World War, they came to the Deutsche Bundesbahn , where they were retired between 1946 and 1948 or sold as factory locomotives. 92 007 was sold to the Mindener Kreisbahn .
