Nigeria was initially announced as the host for 2019, but later received the right to host the WAFU Cup of Nations 2021 .

All games will take place in the Stade Lat-Dior in Thiès , the renovation of which was finished in time for this tournament and which offers space for 15,000 spectators.

Participant and mode

All 16 full members of the WAFU are eligible to play. The teams initially play eight winners in one game in a knockout system . In contrast to the previous event, the winners will go straight to the quarter-finals. The losers play in the quarter-finals of the consolation round. Because of the suspension of Sierra Leone, Morocco was invited to take its place. In the end, Sierra Leone took part.
