WWF Aggression is a rap album by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, today: World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE). It was released on March 21, 2000 via Priority Records and contains hip-hop versions of various entry music by the WWF wrestlers at the time.

background

The series WWF The Music has existed since the 1996 album WWF Full Metal , which collected various entry music from current WWF wrestlers. This adopted an earlier concept that included original songs interpreted by various wrestlers, as was common on the albums The Wrestling Album (1985), Piledriver: The Wrestling Album II (1987) and WrestleMania: The Album (1993). WWF aggression is more likely to be seen along this line, although the wrestlers do not interpret their own songs.

Rather, the WWF asked executive producer Mark Copeland from the hip-hop label Priority Records and thus initiated a collaboration with real greats of the hip-hop scene such as Run DMC , Snoop Dogg and Ice-T . The tracks on the album are influenced by the input music of various wrestlers and represent a kind of remix with hip-hop and rap interludes.

Track information

While the individual songs were interpreted by the hip-hop artists, the source material was composed by Jim Johnston alone.

Only four songs were actually used as performance music: The Kings by Run DMC for D-Generation X , Big by Mack 10 , K Mac , Boo Kapone and MC Eiht for The Big Show and Pimpin 'Ain't Easy by Ice-T for The Godfather were used for a long period of time. Know Your Role of Man Method used Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson , however, only once for the promotion of the album.

Based on Mankind's theme music, Wreck was hastily recorded and produced by Kool Keith & Ol'Dirty Bastard when Ol 'Dirty Bastard was sentenced to illegal drug possession shortly afterwards.

Ice-T performed at WrestleMania 2000 , rapping Pimpin 'Ain't Easy live during the invasion of The Godfather and his Ho's (scantily clad women who played prostitutes) and D'Lo Brown .

production

Mark Copeland and Howard Sadowsky of Priority Records and Jim Johnston and Vince McMahon as representatives of the WWE were involved as executive producers. The individual tracks were implemented by different producers, with Binky Mack from the rap duo Allfrumtha I having the lion's share with a total of seven songs. Other producers included Jam Master Jay , Kool Keith and Rockwilder .

success

The album was a huge hit in the United States and Canada, where it earned a gold record . The album received silver in the UK.
