The constituency of Styria 4 was a constituency for the elections to the House of Representatives in the Austrian Crown Land of Styria . The electoral district was created in 1907 with the introduction of the Reichsrat election regulations and existed until the collapse of the Habsburg monarchy .
history
After the Reichsrat had decided on the general, equal, secret and direct male suffrage in autumn 1906, the major reform of the electoral law through the sanctioning of Emperor Franz Joseph I became effective on January 26, 1907 . The new Reichsrat election regulations created a total of 416 electoral districts, with the exception of Galicia in each constituency one member was elected in the course of the Reichsrat election. The MP had to prevail with an absolute majority in the first ballot or in a runoff election.
The constituency of Styria 4 comprised the fourth district of the city of Graz ( Lend ) as well as the communities Andritz , Eggenberg , Gösting , Gratwein , Judendorf-Straßengel and Sankt Stefan am Gratkorn from the judicial district of Graz Umgebung .
The Social Democrat Hans Resel emerged victorious from the 1907 Reichsrat election . However, since he accepted the mandate in the constituency of Styria 9 , there was a by-election in which Karl Höger prevailed. In the Imperial Council election in 1911 again won Resel.
